01-02: Adding Visual KPI Pages to your Favorites
When you frequently visit the same web site, you are likely to add that web site to your browser’s Favorites list, making it very easy to return to the same page at a later time. Visual KPI pages, including the Ad Hoc Trends, are no different – they can also be added to your browser’s Favorites. Not only is the page location saved in your Favorites, the Date and Status Filters, Trend Ranges, and Pens (for Ad Hoc Trends) are saved along with the page’s URL. This means you can define the reports you want to see, such as MTD, QTD or YTD, save them to your Favorites and then review them at anytime by selecting them from your Favorites. The reports will reflect not only your defined date ranges, but will dynamically include any edits to the data at the moment you open the page.
For example, say you have a particular trend that you refer to regularly. Each time you view this trend, you need to review its month-to-date and year-to-date progress. You have to navigate through the Groups then to the KPIs and finally to a Trend page. Then, you’ll need to define the Custom Range for the Trend page, twice (once for MTD and once for YTD). This entire process could be avoided once the page is added to your Favorites. So, once you define the Custom Range for your MTD report, add the page to your Favorites, naming it something descriptive. Then you define the Custom Range for your YTD report and add it to your Favorites. The next time you want to review the MTD or YTD report for the same KPI, you select it from your Favorites. The page is loaded displaying the current data for that KPI along with the custom range you previously defined.
